Looking for a super-stiff stem that really makes the grade? Make the intelligent choice and go with a ViceVersa GPa4.8. Let us school ya: the GPa4.8 is named for the Tensile Modulus of Carbon. If that's too much to wrap your head around, call your high-school physics teacher - you know, the guy with the pocket protector and all the pens - he'll help you. Anyway, the GPa4.8 is engineered not only for stiffness, but also for safety, which is very smart on a 100kph descent. Special attention has been given to strength, especially in the faceplate design. High-modulus, Venus C7 carbon fiber runs throughout the GPa4.8, resulting in exceptional damping qualities, not to mention a wicked look. Extensions go from 90 to 130mm. Weight at 110 is just 160g. Bore is 31.8mm. Fork steerer OD is 1-1/8" or, for you metric nuts, 28.6mm. You put the screws to the GPa4.8 at a torque of 8Nm front and 8Nm rear. The finish is glossy without being bling-bling. And, of course, the 80? angle allows for a significant rise in your Gpa. 160 Grams.

Stronger, lighter, more attractive. The Profile Design Cobra S Stem hits the trifecta. The Cobra S is part of a growing trend -- carbon-wrapped aluminum. They start with a 3-D forged 7050 aluminum stem and wrap carbon-fiber cloth over it and add resin. The result is a great stem that has rigidity of carbon-fiber and the light weight of aluminum, or vice versa. As with their Aris, Profile offers the Cobra S in sizes you don't see other places. The size run begins at 80mm length and moves up in 10mm increments to 120mm. The stem angle is 84?/96?. The faceplate is forged 7050 aluminum. All the bolts are made from stainless steel. The stem works with 31.8mm diameter handlebars; the clamp width is 40mm. The rear clamp height is 40mm. It comes in 31.8mm diameter; a reduction shim for those who are still using a bike with a 1" steerer. The Profile Design Cobra S Stem is offered in two colors -- high gloss Carbon and White.
